Perhaps I should insert a YouTube video here, to enlighten you?...
a) you're not American OR
b) I'm way older than you are
How do I remain comfortable with my [older] age, you ask?
It's pretty simple:
a) Ignorance is bliss
b) I don't really feel that old [if you really want to know, I turn 46 next month]
But I [totally] digress...
My bags are packed, yes. [see top photo above] They are not traveling far: from the dining room table, to the sewing table [which is against one wall of the dining room].
I had my first paper-piecing class on Saturday, and yes, I just finished the "prep" for the class today. Hoping I can catch up during the week, but I assure you, I will not be ahead of the class when we meet next Saturday.
For reference, here's a photo of the entire quilt/pattern:
Here are my fabric selections for my "H" units (like Mariner's Stars in a circle):
Here's my progress so far:
3 H units = 3/4 of one star and the last piece on each quadrant needs to be ripped out b/c I put it on wrong! |
Here are my fabric selections for the KM units:
FYI: I ordered all of my fabrics (except a few of the browns) from Jackie's on-line shop, Canton Village Quiltworks. Jackie is our instructor, and many of you may know her from her shop, her blog, her long-arm quilting work or her publications in a number of popular quilting magazines [noted in the left sidebar of her blog]. She also sponsors many quilting bloggers. Right now she is offering a wonderful giveaway of Kaffe Fassett Paperweight fat quarters in a variety of colorways. [I'm actually using the purple and green paperweight in this quilt].
I've accumulated a nice bunch of selvages to add to my growing collection:
Have a good day, and happy quilting/sewing to all of you!

You are my favourite person right now! I had totally forgotten all this music existed! I'm an 80's baby but dad brought us up listening to his lp collection from the 60's and 70's!
Now on a mission to 'remember' what bands / songs they were and try to find them, much better than most of this tosh they call music today!
I could just cry that his lp collection has gone, he died 11 years ago and have no idea what happened to it, poop!
Anyhoo, good luck at the class, based on your other work, you will do fantastically well!
I used to play Peter Paul and Mary records growing up - now I've dated myself :)
Your blocks are going to be fabulous - the colors are just beautiful!
love the colours of the fabrics Elisa
You are doing a great job on those paper piecing units. You really threw yourself in at the deep end with such a complex pattern, but hats off to you, you're tackling it well! Lovely contrast in your colours too.
Love that song and I'm not even American :) The only other right answer is: we are from the same generation. Gathering from the number of posts you are in your flow. Love the paper piecing. I so wish I could have joined you in your class. Sounds like a lot of fun and I would finally be able to meet Jackie!
Yup, I remember the song, we used to sing it sitting round the camp fire with a guitar when we were on school camp and guide camps!! Happy memories, thanks.
Good luck with those fabulous stars x
Hi Elisa!
It's looking great! Love your colors. I also had to do some ripping out. Just keep plugging along. See you saturday! Maria

Love Puff the Magic Dragon! And your quadrants are looking great, I love your fabric selection!
Oh, yummy fabrics, i really love the dark greys with the bright colours. The design looks so complicated, how on earth will you keep tabs on all the pieces?
I remember puff, I think I can still sing it too - im a bit older than you (+2) but it was a hit in the uk too!!
Wow, your quadrants look terrific!! So glad you got your bags packed too ;) I am loving how you paired your combinations too. So I just read your most recent post... no worries, we'll get you kickstarted tomorrow. Bring that removable tape!
